I might be wrong but I think that is a cheese slicer/plane it is for semi-soft to semi-hard cheese

I feel like this is a fairly normal thing to have (and I'm not Norwegian)? My doesn't look quite as fancy, but it's the same thing.

That's neat, it might have become more common outside of scandinavia in the last 20-30 years, should probably not be surprised about that, we're proud of this invention after all
