.... most people just change the ENDS of words, but nooooo, freaking Welsh just has to change the INITIAL CONSONANT if it feels the right word goes in front of it. And how does softening an “m” get me to “f” (which is pronounced “v” anyways)? “Merch” should not soften to “ferch,” it makes no sense.
Nope, I had to Google where it came from and that's a colloquial term, so you could call it that in the same way as people call the remote control the zapper or doofer or whatever but it's a more tongue in cheek name. And even the popty is only if it's a microwave oven so I pointed you wrong there as well I'm afraid.
