Tesla isn't even that eco-friendly. The mining of heavy metals for batteries is terrible for the environment, and of course it is mostly done in China so it once again increases the West's dependency on a totalitarian country without human rights. And the batteries themselves don't usually last more than 10 years, unlike oil engines that, if taken care of properly, can go for decades. Not to mention the eco-friendliness of a Tesla heavily depends on where the country you're charging it in gets its power. If it's from renewable, eco-friendly sources, great. If it's from coal plants, not great.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no oil shill, I just think mining heavy metals to make batteries that won't last you more than 10 years isn't really the way to go, environmentally speaking. And for a long time I had a weird feeling about Tesla and Musk. It's like, more of a fashion company than a car company, in the same way Apple is more of a fashion company than a tech company. Y'know what I mean?
Not to forget that Tesla's customer service is shite. So many people have got their cars exploded and Tesla just doesn't give a fuck. Even when approached by papers regarding this, they don't talk about it.
Which makes sense - kids are not known for their impulse control, and suddenly amping the oxygen consumption in that situation would be what they call a “bad thing.”
Not saying I worship the guy or anything, but shouldn't we allow people the grace to grow as people? First, it's hard to take a story like this at face value, but assuming it's true, do we use it as a basis to judge Ol' Musky forever after as a douchebag? Is there no scenario possible where someone may be allowed to grow and change over the course of their life?
This is what bothers me about condemning someone for a mean tweet they posted 10 years ago. Sure, out of context, it may look bad, but maybe stop for 5 seconds to consider whether that tweet is in line with everything else you know about a person's more recent history or whether it merely indicates that, at one time in their past, that person might have been a dick.
It literally happened bruh, it was one of the biggest stories of 2018, there is no "face value" stuff here. It's not 10 years but 3 and Musk has progressively gone worse and more PR driven. And the whole reason he called the guy a pedo was because he refused to use Musk's submarine idea, because it was impractical and clearly a publicity stunt. Musk paid a PI 50 grand to find out dirt on the rescuer guy, but turns out the PI was a hack and Musk got ripped off. None of that sounds like a good person.

Stop defending ultra-billionaires, they aren't gonna fuck you
I haven't busted unions, I haven't sided with abusers, I haven't slandered people without evidence and then called it a joke, my entire life is not a PR effort. And much more.

Whatever you think Musk is doing for humanity, he isn't. He is doing it for himself. Humanity in general is headed towards a more technologically enlightened era, Musk is no Messiah, he's just another megalomaniac, the difference is, the internet likes him cause sometimes he does some "le funny".
FUCK ELON MUSK
I fucking KNEW there was something about him that just seemed off
