My fairy tale books are packed up at the moment, and I cannot find it online. It turns out the reason I cannot find it online is that it turns out to be one of the over two hundred variants of “The Six Swans.” In this one the huntsman’s house is replaced by the giant’s house with the cat, and the cat incident is what drives her out to where the prince finds her.
