I’m not sure I believe the idea that most people don’t have a couple someones in their circle that knows how to maintain a clean water supply.
My main issue in a post apocalyptic scenario would be the fact I’m still overweight but that’s a problem that solves itself in a physically taxing survival scenario.

Not to mention that, while it has its downsides, fat people take longer to starve.
There's also the question of if you'd actually WANT to live in a post-apoc scenario. No decent food, bad water, shitty people if any at all, no creature comforts, no electricity. You'd probably be smelly all the time, your teeth would probably develop painful problems. Any minor or severe injury could result in death or permanent deformation, with lifelong pain as a possible side-effect. Me personally, I need several different medicines, and regardless of how I procured them they would run out and then I'd be in deep shit.
One Second After is a book that actually shows just how screwed people are without modern technology, and is an amazing read. Anybody with diabetes? Almost certainly dead within 6 months, and that's being generous. People on antipsychotics/antidepressants? That'll definitely create mass hysteria. The law as we know it? Completely dessicated, and practically the only two choices for guilty suspects are letting them free or execution.
Banishment with the penalty of death or straight up death is the only practical sentence for severe crimes. What classifies as a severe crime also gets a drastic overhaul. Good news for people that like communism is that at least to start with almost all communities have no choice but to be communes. Downside is that at a certain population size those communes are almost guaranteed to end up a dictatorship.
yea, we hunt for food here to supplement our food supply, killing a deer is going to be cheaper than the equivalent amount of meals made from purchased food, just need 2 rounds or 2 "shots" worth of powder, cap, and bullet depending on the season.
Hell, my tribe even still officially supports classes to teach people how to make traditional hunting bows with simple tools, not to mention the fact we've had enough "Boil Warnings" from heavy storms, ice storms, and flash floods fucking the water infrastructure here that even the more urban folk round here likely realize that boiling water when you dont know if its clean is a good step to staying alive.
