There are eight types of ears, and any one of them could result in this problem.
A solution would be to purchase an "Over-the-ear" earphone. This type of earphone, not to be mistaken with large headphones, rather than staying inserted into the ear, which could lead to it slipping out, hangs over it, leading to less time messing with earphone shenanigans.
Note: This type is prone to difficult untangles, so keep that in mind.

The hard plastic hurts me to, if they are in long enough they rub my ear canals raw till they almost bleed. The silicone ear pieces are a god send to me. Also I do have over the ear headsets but I prefer those at home, not when I'm out walking about.
These usually come with spare rubber thingies so you can choose the right fit for your ear. At least nine always do. And the smaller ones fit perfectly.
To keep them in put your right arm over your head n pull on the top off the ear to straighten the ear canal and insert earphone then vice versa for the other ear n itl stay in. Welcome to the next level of music.
omg me to! my friends know already that if i ask for earphones (when i forget mine) that they cannot give me these crap. I know beggars cant be choosers but these make me cry
