Dude, you realize he (or she) is only collecting useable stuff, right? Handguns, assault and sniper rifles, tactical hatchets, a machete, hunting knives, kunai knives, a daisho set plus tanto, etc. Ulfberhts are ancient Norwegian swords, made c. 800-1000 AD, of which very few survive to this day (and none of which are useable!) They are ultra-rare museum pieces of incredible historical value, not something that belongs in a practical collection! The only useable authentic Ulfberht in existence was forged for a NOVA documentary, and is the private property of its creator... It's the same deal for zweihanders (German longswords, made and used c. 1500-1570 AD): few have survived, and those that have are extremely valuable and belong in museums!
Well, I agree with you that people should try to diversify their sword collections, but the point I was trying to make was that you don't buy ancient artifacts for a purely practical collection. There are probably some super rich archeology or ancient weapons enthusiasts that own those kinds of swords, but they are show pieces, not things you can use. This guy (or girl) just has practical, useable weaponry.
Zweihander's aren't tough to come by anymore. People who forge as a hobby make this shit in fine quality just to sell as decorations but can usually still be used to kill any normal house invader, unless they are a roman centurion.
Are we talking about a "common" burglary? Because more people=more noise=more chance of waking someone up. I'd imagine no more than three people actually come in for practical purposes. A centurion fought in 60-80 man cohorts. There's no way one man with any home defense weapon could stand against a 20 man invasion of professional soldiers. Because I don't think I could fit more than 20 centurions in my downstairs.
Wow you really know me. And using "fag" as an insult tells me all I need to I need about you. Go back to the hole you crawled out of and cringe to death of shame.
Welcome to Funsubstance, where it's weird to collect or display a collection of something practical, but it's normal to collect fanfiction of, say, gay incestuous Sam & Dean Supernatural stories.
But imagine a knight in full plate barreling into your house.
