Prison culture is so different and interesting. Not that i want to experience it but to learn what these guys go through is worth while. Also anybody who was wondering "15 to life" means that he must serve a minimum of 15 years however they can hold him for life if the judge feels like it, like causing trouble.
Not that I'm condoning murder, but the world is way, way too complex to look at it with such a black and white view. While a lot of people deserve to be where they are, there is also a long history of people getting fucked over by the courts. Like the cases where people fight back against their abuser and are charged for it.
Murderers and rapists are no longer human. They are beasts and deserved to be treated as such. I'd even say they are sub beast in humanity levels. Put then down like they do to rabid dogs.
Here's some pessimistic philosophy: murder, rape, child molestation, torture, are some of the most human things someone can do. Animals do not torture their prey for hours, days, sometimes even YEARS. Animals do not sexually abuse their young, (although sometimes they do eat them). Animals do not rape for sexual pleasure, and animals do not kill other animals for no reason other than to satisfy some sexual need or an inner desire to kill. Only humans do these things. So, really, murderers and rapists are indeed human.
I like your point, but not everything there is entirely true. Most animals do rape for pleasure, they're not aware that it's purpose is reproduction. Likewise most predators do kill based on desire, even if that desire is sated by eating. Sometimes even that's not true. There's documentation of lions who had just finished eating a kill, then immediately killing a convenient target and doing nothing with it.
Inadequate conditions in prison actually increase a persons chances of re offending after release. The whole point of prison is to make people safe to be out in society. You treat them like beasts they will act like beasts.
That's the point. It says a 39 year old guy is currently serving a 15 year sentence that he got when he was 18. Makes no sense, that was my point.
I like how I get downvoted instead of, I dunno, someone explaining where's the problem. Really shows how open-minded people here are.
I used to be a corrections officer. I LOVED tossing cells. It was always interesting figuring out where the cons might have hidden contraband. Used to have a group of guys that always hid butter, crackers, etc from their lunch trays just to mess with me. It was a game to see if I could find them. It was fun for the inmates and I took it as a challenge that I never failed.
hi,im eric kelly,i got 3weeksremand home when i was ten for being bad boyand i was 22years old when igot out?what the hell went wrong you may ask,f,,,,,,,,,if i know, stay cool.im 62 now and still fighting the system.take care.eric
He may not have actually been then one to pull the trigger. In alot of states if you were simply involved with the murder (present, aided, etc.) You can get charged for murder and not have pulled the trigger.
Not for just any murder. In Texas we are infamous for a large number of executions. The charge which comes with the death penalty is capitol murder. Now that means you have to comit murder while allready committing another felony (rape, robbery, felony trespass etc.) Or the murder of a puplic servant (police officer, firefighter etc.)
@morganwinchester Idk about you but murder pretty much means you had the intention to kill (depending on the degree somewhat) so if this person killed someone therefore taking a life and fucking up a lot of others I would have no problem with him dying he's a waste of tax payer dollars and a real cunt
did my research https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_punishments_for_murder_in_the_United_States#Ohio
so most likely second degree of which he served the lowest sentence
and a second degree murder is
-
A killing done impulsively without premeditation, but with malice aforethought A killing that results from an act intended to cause serious bodily harm A killing that results from an act that demonstrates the perpetrators depraved indifference to human life
-
so in final I agree that death penalty wouldn't be right for this because its a second degree murder however there are some people the death penalty IS right for like a 1st degree murder
-
BTW nice debate
You cannot possibly say that the deth penalty IS right, just as I cannot say it is wrong. It is a matter of opinions. You believe it is right, I believe in any and every case it is wrong. I don't believe we should allow the criminal justice system the ability to play God. Lock them up for life, sure. That's fine. But how is murdering someone who murdered someone supposed to teach people that murdering is wrong?? Counterproductive if you ask me.
Not to mention one is twenty five people sentenced to death are innocent. It is NOT foolproof and NOT completely accurate. That number should either be gone completely or drastically lowered. 144 people on death row have been exonerated since 1973. Tell me that is jusfified and I'll tell you that you're wrong.
Funny. Because I disagree with abortion too. Somewhere in my comments from a few months ago will state that, since I've had several debates about that. It's strange how you can state what I do and do not agree with though. You learn new things about yourself everyday. Huh.
okay
mmmmmkay
alright
What, so a soldier or someone who bangs a dunk chick aren't people anymore?
