They also have to completely cleanse the frying pans and everything completely so no trace of it remains.
It's much easier to refuse service than to take responsibility for something like this..
They're cant just reject every time they're asked out to eat for a date/family thing/business thing etc. At least they had the courtesy to make those cards to make it a little easier for them
Soooo they are sayin not to use anything that's gluten free? That's a shocker!

OK that's a lot of allergies, but they're mostly onion-type things and seafood. You can easily avoid using these ingredients. It's no worse than asking McDonald's to make you a batch of salt free fries.
I was wondering how someone could possibly be allergic to that particular set of foods, and then I remembered that I'm allergic to yeast and strange food allergies just happen.
Defending dragonbaby, the top of the card says
"Cristy's food allergies:
Please do not use:"
So below that is the list of stuff not to use, but at the bottom it says "gluten free"
If you were to follow the list with the beginning saying "please do not use x, xx, xxx..." And then at the end tack on gluten free, it will be considered a part of that "sentence" and can be isolated as "please do not use gluten free"
I'm sorry if I made no sense, I'm trying to explain in the best way I can think of at the moment
How about instead you just do your job like you are payed to and stop judging people for health conditions they can't change. Just because someone is allergic to several things doesn't mean they should be forced into being a shut in.
Most of those ingredients are used in a lot of restaurant foods, it's like saying that you want a taco with only the tortilla, you can't judge people for judging people for the food thing until you've worked in a resturaunt.
If you have this many allergies, you should call or visit the restaurant ahead and let give them time to come up with a delicious dish for you to enjoy.
This is so rude. The woman is trying to make it easier on the restaurant by using this card. And it's not hard to avoid using ingredients if they are clearly defined. Sounds like the guy working at the restaurant needs to get over it and do his job.
But almost everything has onions and garlic. Try to order something that doesnt but I am sure sauces and pre made stuff used for the food are going to have it.
Do not use : ... gluten free. So use regular flour? I she is in GF diet and thee person who made the card is dumb then Christy is gonna have a bad time...
Like, okay, I personally don't like people who say "don't put this stuff into my food, I'm allergic to it" when they just don't like it. I know a few people that do this and it's a real dick move cause the staff has to clean all the dishes, pans, utensils etc so they don't leave even a slight trace of it. However, if this Cristy person (I assume it's a she cause of the name?) really is allergic to all that stuff, then I'm sorry for her and I think it's actually a very nice thing of her to make that card. Just because you're heavily allergic to a lot of things doesn't mean you can't enjoy going out for dinner from time to time.
What makes her different from thousands of other "difficult customers" that make the staff's job harder every day, apart from actually being polite enough to let them know in advance?
The problem is, you never know that until they start bitching about their food or whatever. At that point, I think it's impossible to refuse them service. You can have them thrown out if they're being extremely rude, but most restaurants just try to cater to these difficult customers because of profits and possible reviews. So, if they can cater to bitchy people, crying children and the like, why shouldn't they cater to someone who has special needs, but is being quite polite about it?
If the annoying customer says he/she's allergic to something just because they don't like it (and there are people like that), they have to purify the kitchen as well.
If someone is being a pain in the ass to the point that it's the same amount of ass-pain as cleansing the entire kitchen they should be refused service. Does that make more sense?
Of course, I just don't believe that a restaurant would ever do that. They appease customers in order to maintain some prestige, or at least to get some good reviews. Depends upon how strict the owner is, I guess.
I agree with all that, I just think they'd be better off with less ass-kissing than they currently do. Maybe it'd end up scaring away too many customers, I don't know. But I think it's worth a try.
Sometimes you don't have a choice. You can always refuse service, but it might get you fired. Really depends if your superior would understand or not. If you're a new employee, it might not be wise to just start making your own rules.
I have never been to a website with a more entitled mindset as you all. You honestly think people should change the way they do things to appease you or for your convenience. If she has all those allergies, go to a restaurant more convenient for your diet.
I always have to make sure there's no nightshades in what I order. A lot of times burger places forget I said no tomato and we end up with a free dessert or something xD
For everyone saying is perfectly fine she eats out I understand and I agree she should be able to enjoy that. However, it is extremely difficult to find things in restaurants w/o onions or garlic in it at all. Plus a lot of things are pre made. So yes it is useful to have the card but it is probably too hard for restaurant staff! Try to find something in the menu first and then give them the card jic but we cant expect for restaurants to make something from scratch all the time
If you're in the U.S... this is an easy solution. Servers don't make a salary, so if you go out to eat and need special treatment, hand the nice waiter some cash and then ask for it. You will definitely get your annoying eating habits handled better.
My point is for some restaurarants it is very hard to do w/o these ingredients. I recently asked a quesadilla in a restaurant where the menu only had chicken quesadilla. I just said hey when preparing the quesadilla just leave the chicken out. They even had a just cheese quesadilla in the kids menu and they still looked at me like I was asking for dirt. I guess they had all the quesadillas prepared and they just warm it up (yuck btw) many rest have everything pre made. I usually just order the most sinple thing I know it will be easier to manage to leave a thing or two out.
I go out with a friend with a lot of food issues. She picks things she can eat and asks about the ingredients. Some times this annoys the waitstaff.. so really is no win. You are in a services industry. Get over it.
Because she wants to eat a nice meal out with her family or coworkers? Or what if she's obligated to go to lunch say for a lunch meeting. Whats she supposed to do? Pack her own lunch?
It's much easier to refuse service than to take responsibility for something like this..
I should get some for my migraine triggers

I'm sure that there are a few chefs in some higher end restaurants that would happily take restrictions like these as a challenge though.
2) Sure, because every restaurant ever has an online menu where you can see all the ingredients they put in their food.
