baja blast is my shit, but I do love Chipotle, actually had some for dinner tonight. I don't like the queso they added though, it's pretty bland. Got it on the side to try it just in case... was the right decision.
Per the last thread that mentioned Chipotle, I went and ate at one for the purposes of science and a larger sample size.
Pros:
• Food tasted ok, this visit it actually had flavor.
• Portion size was appropriate, I felt fed.
• Staff was pleasant and helpful, I was offered my sour cream on the side because tacos were too full. That was cool, as I ate them I dipped them in it.
• Didn't eat my tacos anywhere nearly as soon as I should have and they were still crispy and good. How they pull that off must be voodoo.
Cons:
• Store was poorly lit.
• Menu confusing and needed explaining.
• Hardcore Cali hippie swank vibe.
• Still promoting the organic/natural is "better" horseshit.
Conclusion:
They're ok. Dispite my continued dislike of them and their practices, I think I'm being fair. Never going to turn my back on Taco Bell, but may consiter them again for variety.
I think Chipotle has a ton of flavor. Just curious, what are you ordering? I was talking to someone who complained it wasn't good, but then explained that she doesn't like 99% of the menu. I was like NO DUH! If you don't like salsa or guac or cheese, etc. then nothing will taste good.
@changetheworld, I ordered the steak tacos with the usual suspects for topping.
@zippytheroach, Moe's is more of a sit-down family fare sort of a place than a take out joint. Thats not something I really ever do. Ever.
Sure, you can get most, if not all of the menu a la carte, but yeah... look at the guy by himself getting one entre to go so he can take it home and eat it alone. Yay. Just going out sometimes is enough to trigger a minor depressive episode.
But its not out of the question. The next time I reach "Fuck It," I'll keep them in mind.
@zippytheroach I have gone to Moe's a bunch of times and I still think Chipotle is much better, especially in quality. @Smitty Never had the tacos, but the burritos/burrito bowls and salads are very good.
I will try the burrito again on my next trip. It was what I had on my first trip there years ago, but it's unfair to judge a chain based on one outlet.
go with the burrito bowl... there is no reason to add the tortilla... just ask for some extra rice if it's about a calorie count. I used to swear by the burrito... but now i'm a bowl guy.
I am a bowl person too. Just because I like to mix everything up and get it evenly distributed. And not look stupid trying to keep the huge burritos together as I eat.
I'm sorry, but the handful of times I've had a Shitpotle burrito, the rice was undercooked, and the entire thing was bland as hell.
Give me the roach coach, or give me death!
