We’ve been down this road before. Santa is not based on a real person as much as “inspired by.” He doesn’t resurrect the dead and the real Saint Nick didn’t live in the North Pole. Asides that- many cultures Santa is based of Santa. A copy of a copy modified to their culture. Regardless/ it isn’t terribly important what fictional entity it is you are telling your kids is breaking into your house to deliver presents. The only people who need to “get off this planet” are people who insist on telling others how they should live their life. No Santa, male Santa, lady Santa, no gender Santa, robot Santa (which actually makes more sense and is more up with the times for sure...), whatever. You can still have whatever Santa you want. Let other people have their Santa too.
Letting other people have their Santa too is kind of the issue, though. No one is shitting on the concept of a lady dressing as Santa Claus, they're rejecting the concept that Santa *ought* to be gender neutral.

Santa is inspired by a bunch of saints, the most prominent of them is Saint Nicholas, a bishop from Turkey. So if y'all are concerned about historical accuracy, Santa should be brown. No white, blue eyed man living on the North Pole.
But oh no people are gonna freak out on me because I'm ruining their whitewashed Santa now, because it's fine that his ethnicity was changed but God forbid someone think there might be a female or gender neutral Santa. It's a goddamn fictional character, who cares.
