My partner has a similar sentiment but sadly- there’s no reason to believe it is true. In countries around the world through history to the modern day we see that even in the same nation slight variance in skin color or ancestry causes prejudice. In the Philippines or many central/South American countries there is bias between those with stronger indigenous traits and those with traits from foreign peoples like the Spanish. In many African countries there is racism between people who elsewhere would all be seen as “black,” but are slightly different shades- or even genocides simply based off tribal roots or ethnic affiliations among genetically similar populations.
And really- most groups on earth today come from thousands of years of mixing of often long forgotten shared ancestors. Look at America and take race out of the equation and see the levels of hate, division, hostility, even violence and at least one death directly linked to simply who people support as president. If we were all one “race” you could technically end “racism” the same way you could reach a crime rate statistic of 0% if you simply stopped tracking crimes or made everything legal. You’ve technically “got rid of the problem” but you didn’t solve the issue. Racism is just a symptom of hate, xenophobia, lack of self accountability, logic, wisdom, etc. A tool for selfishness and control. If race isn’t a factor we simply find something else to create a villain for our story. We have to change ourselves- change humanity to be better- not just try to win on a technicality.
I'm pretty sure it didn't go all that well.
