If you don’t want to be in gender studies why are you in gender studies? It’s not a requirement, like, anywhere. Why ARE you paying nine grand for this?
It may be an option for part of the gen. Ed component but it's not a requirement; often there are a number of categories and you have to take one out of that category. I've never worked at OR attended a university that required a gender studies class. Sociology, anthropology, many times even a language will fulfill that requirement.
^ was wondering that myself. I mean, it seems likely, but not guaranteed. If it's a debate class then they chose their topic well. Maybe they just have a teacher with an agenda
Trying to put together the fact that "Most colleges in the U.S. that promote a liberal experience DO require all students to take at least one gender studies course" with the well known fact that all colleges are hecka liberal with the other fact that I can't find one single college that requires a gender studies course. Must be one somewhere. I guess all the rest aren't liberal after all.
I think the case here is more like the “pink tax” Situation. I had someone argue that the cost difference of male vs female products wasn’t a real thing by citing toothbrushes. They said that this toothbrush is pink but it costs the same as a red one- this was the point that I knew any argument with them was futile
That's not even the same argument, though. The toothbrush is not sexist. The pricing may be, but the object itself (and nothing about the object) is not
My only other guess may be that the class is discussing that the shape is inherently for larger hands and thus not best fit for women. But that makes less sense and now I really wanna know if/how it’s sexist
The color of a toothbrush does not make it less effective for either gender. Though color WERE important, most likely it would put men at a disadvantage since they are the ones more likely to be colorblind, and more likely to be shamed for using a particular color.
.
The price is not part of the design. Ergo, the price has nothing to do with the toothbrush being sexist.
.
And there are dozens of different sizes and shapes of toothbrushes. They will never fit all mouths the same. I guarantee toothbrushes are probably actually SMALLER than most men would prefer, to accommodate women.
So this leads back to a college giving out in their welcome kit a toothbrush with a picture of a woman with toothpaste on her chin and it says "spit or swallow?" under it. Seriously, someone thought that was a good idea to give to college kids that 1 in 5 are sexually assaulted...so yeah, a toothbrush can represent something fuuuuucked up.
It's almost like people can understand a point, and yet choose to talk about other things. We live in crazy times.

That said, is it a laser dot? Because if it is I may get @Catfluff to offer their services
