They're copyrighting artwork that has nothing to do with them if it so much as says the name "Loki" on it.
.
All I can think of is when McDonald's tried to sue someone over the use of "Mac" in Ireland (I think) and ended up losing the rights to the names of Their entire burger line pretty much
Also remember when they tried to copyright, dia de Los meurtos when Coco came out?
.
Now they are copyrighting literal gods.

This is the definition of capitalist cultural colonialism. But it's cool lol, cause they make nice movies.
I didn't hear about that one, but Disney doesn't even make decent movies anymore. Most of them are just the same shit spewed out again and again and again with adjusted special effects and forced politics
Yeah as someone who's a Norse mythology nerd, Marvel's terrible interpretation of it makes my blood boil. But this is a new low.
Did you know Norse mythology also contains, for example, the name Gandalf? He's an elf mentioned at the beginning of the Elder Edda if I remember correctly. Tolkien drew a lot of inspiration from Norse myths. It's so delightful to read his works alongside the Eddas and find the similarities.
I freaking love the show already. Unleashing multiple Loki's across the timeline in a way it sounds like a total dick move but doesn't seem to be is hilarious. One of Loki's on truths is he's neither good or bad. The TVA has been super sus since the beginning, and they all sound like a bunch of religious zealots. Honestly I think the whole TVA thing is either Kang or Mephisto being utter dicks about everything. To what end would EITHER not want a multiverse? One's a time traveler and the other is immortal with only one goal that makes silly deals with unsuspecting people; or worse, people that know and know the consequences of the deal. Both have an ideal future that'd be their end goal and would, on purpose, try to erase Loki because if he ever knew he'd proceed to throw a wrench, fuck up the plan, and smile as he did it.
you can snopes this. It's false. Loki is only trademark their signature Loki, not any other versions that exist. You can make up your own Loki, make him do the same things theirs does, and get away with it as long as you don't make him look like Tom. Stop acting like it's just Disney that does this; EVERY company with a product will attempt to gain such legal standing; it's why, while pirated sports games exist, they get removed rather quickly and there's always the disclaimer that the broadcast is copyrighted. It's akin to illegally downloading a movie. A few hundred, even thousands, nobody really cares. You take those movies and then start selling them to tens of thousands? Yeah, the people that made the movies will come after you. The movies cost money to make, so the people making the movies do want their return on investment.
Also to add, given how often i've been called a socialist or a communist on this site in the past, I'm reveling in the idea I can finally point out I'm a capitalist that believes in a safety net. JUST saw; pumpkin? Talking about the idea poverty perpetuates because it makes people focus on just surviving, instead of thriving; which is true.... but you bring up a social safety net so that doesn't happen as often, leading to a healthier society, and suddenly you're a socialist. Then there is the whole screwed up tax system we have in the US where is will the abuse lies; and I get called a socialist for saying these people still won't be making millions from shit nobody needs. That's the distinction; need vs want; infrastructure is need; medical care is needed; a movie is not needed. Have you all forgotten when gas prices had to be frozen by the federal government due to inflated profiteering and proceeded to go arrest those who did it? What about the dude with the hand sanitizer?
Healthcare companies are doing that right now; except it's way more serious; as instead of not being able to get to work, you might fucking die. You'd think companies and execs and stock brokers and bankers would want more customers, not less. It's all incredibly fucking counterintuitive.
It wasn't me who said that about poverty but I agree, and the last part reminds me of what a decorated general said about war -granted, it was WWI. And still I'm also not a socialist, just shocked by the fact poverty kills.
Stupid and so wrong. (Also me: trademarks all random words and little know historical / fictional characters in anticipation of beating Disney to the punch... "Dave" - 2001 Space Odyssey, "Poindexter", "blue" - the color (dang Dupont owns that), "Mando-fact-ian", "peanut butter wookies"..)
But anyway, she tried to claim “Kimono”
