The catch is, is that they are one of their research vessels, so not exactly 5 star accommodations. They are also several months long sometimes and as far as I can tell, you seem to become a research assistant to the regular crew.
I fail to see a downside in this, other than they are damned expensive. The cost helps fund the expedition, so it is money well spent.
