This is why that speech style is dangerous. He may have said “there should be something like that,” but that’s not what people heard and anybody who’s lived more than ten years knew it.
Honestly no need to warn the rest of us, we’re not stupid and can think for ourselves.
Honestly if you’re moronic enough to heed his advice then no sympathy and goodbye
He never said that.
"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"
Stupid? Yes. But it ain't what y'all are making out to be.
"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"
He asked a question. Yes it was stupid, but the media's spin of it is dangerous.
The headlines are outright saying "Trump suggests injecting bleach", when the truth of it is "Trump asks stupid question, gets smacked down by experts".
That is also worrying. He’s been briefed by top virologists and epidemiologists for a solid month. If he’s still at the level where he is even suggesting you can sanitize lung tissue like it’s a countertop then he’s either not paying attention or not understanding.
Of course he's not understanding. I can barely make people understand why putting hemostatic gauze in a stomach wound is a bad idea after weeks of instruction. And my Joes are only focused on me, they aren't simultaneously juggling foreign relations, wars, navel operations, court cases, new laws, or any of the million other things that Heads of State need to constantly monitor.
That's why it's a good thing he is finding the people who do know what's up. Fauci and Birx are experts. Do you think you'd be able to understand Patton talking about Armored Warfare? Or Tesla explaining wireless power? Or Ceasar about statesmanship?
Probably. I don’t have to achieve their level of expertise to get the broad strokes. But what he said shows a lack of even basic concepts if he really did think it was a good idea. Realistically he just needs to learn how to shut up. He wields the power of the Presidency like a toddler with a handgun.
He doesn’t get off that easily. He’s the President. He has to be precise in his words as much as his meanings. If he wants to joke or be sarcastic he needs to accept the consequences. There are people who take his words (not meanings) literally. Hell he asked about Space Force and now it’s a thing. Some folks probably assumed there would be lung disinfection clinics established soon.
The problem isn’t that he asked a question to experts, which is generally a good thing to do, but rather that he asked a question during a nationwide speech on how to deal with the corona virus. In a Situation like this People expect him to be briefed about the newest information and tell what he intends to do.
While he is not responsible for people drinking disinfectants, he is responsible for not checking beforehand if this works and giving people the idea that this may be a treatment
@guest sums it up well. Trump is just a man but The President is a office of great influence. His words don’t belong to him when uttered in public. They are part of the National Record. That’s why the WH has always had speechwriters because the words matter just as much as the meaning.
Big problem is, no one wants to publicly slam him, especially during a news conference. He has a habit of making those that go against his words, unemployed. The doctors and experts have stated they tread a fine line between what is true and what Trump says.
Except they do correct him. Behind closed door and in public. The motherfucker's gone on record saying that he ain't an expert virologist.
The only conflict that's actually out there is Fauci telling the media to stop making shit up, and the President trying to balance medical advice against global politics and the economy.
Or did y'all not know that China is pushing their claim on half the Pacific Ocean, much of the country is unemployed, small businesses are being slaughtered, Kim Jong Un may be dead, and authoritarians are trying to take permanent action against Constitutional rights stateside, and basic liberties abroad?
Honestly if you’re moronic enough to heed his advice then no sympathy and goodbye
>folks get severely ill
>trump loses election
>trump: Thanks Obama
