Most people do have multiple names, their spouse and/or partner)s)might have various nick names for them, their parents, childhood friends, college friends, etc etc. then there are people who go by a different version of their name, middle name, etc. but have a legal name that isn’t the same, then you’ve got the names you go by on the internet, which are often different in different platforms, and often change over time.... and some names have many versions- Micheal, Mikey, Mike, Joe, Joey, Joseph/Josephine- on top of other derivative nicknames based on given name. And then you can also go by just last name (“Sandler, get over here...”) so we already have many names. And you can tell different people to call you different names.
When I was young I went by a version of my given name that is considered more “childish” and when I got older people called me a shorter version, and at work they know me by my full first name. Another guy has my first name at work and they call him the shorter version- but his family calls him the long version and at home, I am called the short version. So yeah. Most people already have many names.
Well yeah, obviously there's nicknames, but that's not what the OP is about.

I personally use completely different names. I go by Zont, Lydia, Emily, and many others (those are just the ones I'm happy sharing currently).
None of which are anywhere near my birthname.

For example, I might tell someone that my name is Zont, and my pronouns are they/them, but around others, I'd call myself Lydia, and use she/her.
And in yet another situation, I'd simply say nothing, because I wouldn't see why they'd need that info.

Sometimes I assign different personalities to my names, but that's kinda different.
For instance, when going by Zont, I'm a little weirder, yet as Lydia, I'm friendlier and relatively normal.
Then we have that guy in Sweden that *loves* changing his name and always chooses long, ridiculous ones. In 2014 for some time he was named:

In my family we have a lot of surnames, and everyone is called differently by everyone else. I rather like it. I've heard my Dad use my "real" first name only twice in my whole life. (Only counterpoint: as a kid we had to write down our siblings' names for class and for long minutes I couldn't remember them)
I have an acquaintance with three names, one from her mom, one from her dad, and a third that's a nickname of the name from her mom (but it's a given name in of its own)
