I was agreeing with the post and then saw this comment, which made me gag because I instantly had a strong smell of Brussel sprouts in my nostrils. @kaiserwilhelm, we have a deal, I'll send you all the B sprouts I'll ever be expected to eat.
What turned me away was seeing my mom burn them damn near to a charcoal than dip them in Mayo and eat them like chips. *holds in vomit best I can*
She got it from when she was pregnant with my 2nd to youngest brother. It was a craving and she continued to eat it at least 2 to 3 times a year. MAINLY because us kids and my Dad HATED them lol
I have tried them the proper way and trust me still gross. I did find out that I like Spinach though, As a kid I thought all Spinach looked like seaweed in a can that popeye gulped down before beating up someone. But Fresh Spinach is actually really good, I never liked it canned. But now I get it on sandwiches instead of lettuce and on my pizza.
My favorite pizza is Alfredo sauce, ricotta, parmesan, fresh mozzarella, chicken, bacon, a lot of spinach cause that shit shrinks and crust to be thin but soft not deep dish or thin crispy but between the 2.
Soooooo good!!!
Gosh that sounds amazing! Reminds me of a pizza they make at my local restaurant, basically this but without the ricotta and they crack an egg in the middle (before baking ofc). Sounds weird but it's good!
Ahahaha true! Growing up my mom always made bland, steamed vegetables (with a few exceptions, for example her breaded and fried cauliflower is the best.) Then I learned how to cook and discovered all kinds of delicious vegetable soups!
Same! It took me learning how to cook to realize just how sloppy of a cook my grandma is. She doesn't understand the concept of making things from scratch and always uses artificial sauce thickeners, store bought dumplings, cake mixes etc. and always drenches everything in oil.
My other grandma though, now her cooking was *the shit* (tm). Everything was always 100% home made, and she had chickens and grew her own vegetables.
Some veggies I love, some I absolutely hate because they suck and there is nothing that can be done, ever, to make them appealing to me. Squash in particular.
Slice 1/4 inch thick, throw in bowl, toss with olive oil and Parmesan, microwave 90-120 seconds (until just beginning to soften). Doesn’t go all squishy that way.
Unless you mean gray squash, that stuff’s awful. Zucchini and yellow squash only.
