If there was no dress code, I'm sure you know what some of your "more intelligent" coworkers would show up in. No one wants to see that.

C'mon man, just let me chill in my basketball shorts, t-shirt and sandals. I get more work done when I'm comfortable!

We have no dress code at our company, takes the stress off having to buy extra clothes just to be professional and everyone is comfy. We dress accordingly when we have meetings

Speaking of clothing at work, I wore some new pants to work and they are grey. My manager said they looked unprofessional and he prefers black or darker pants... the dude wears sweats 50% of the time and pink jeans the other 50%.

I ride the bus to and from work. The other day my HR approached me, to say I can no longer wear my uniform while I commute or if I'm not at work, because I'm representing the company, and someone complained that I was on my phone too much. I was clocked out and riding the bus.

District engineer announced on Monday safety call that he will "not be paying the salary of anyone bot following safety policy of wearing safety glasses 100% 9f time while on road." (TXDOT) Last year he threatened me with termination because I folded my hands wrong for stretch & flex. In Last 5 years, 78 employees including 50% of total engineers in district have quit, been fired, forced to retire or retired early by buying vacation time.
