What gets me is how so many people had no idea that it isn't even Hawaiian it's from Canada. I mean come on people the second topping is Canadian bacon.
Hawaiian sounded more gimmicky and exotic. Plus we have a different pizza called canadian. Though there's no maple syrup on it, and I'm not sure that's not a mistake.

Actually I'm pretty sure the first one who came up (in public) with the pineapple/ham/cheese combo was Germany's TV cook Clemens Wilmenrod in 1955, introducing Germany's infamous Toast Hawaii, like 10 years before the Pizza Hawaii. But this might have originated in the grilled spamwich of the American 1930s.
Bacon instead of Ham sounds super delish though.... maybe I'll try a Toast Hawaii with crispy bacon.
