Or the rural south of America. "This here is Big Joe, his brother Angry Joe, Big Joe's son Lil Joe, his daughter Josephina, and that thur is Smelly Joe, Other Joe, and Ekel Joe."

Yes. Funny enough most everyone else in the world is very similar. Europe was largely unaware of the fruit until the 1600's when it was brought from the Americas. For awhile most everyone called them some form of "Annana" which was a the interpretation of their Tupe name "nanas." English speakers thought they looked like pinecones from conifer trees and referred to them as such, a pine fruit. English did interchangeably you anannas and pineapples for a brief time, but annanas was fairly limited innise compared to the more popular pineapple name. It's possibly the introduction of the banana from Africa around that time helped cement the term for the purposes of distinction but not confirmed. While it is somewhat odd for English to use the term it's not unprecedented, the French word for potato translates to "earth apple."
It starts strong and I see where at the end you could be torn. I think it's up to you to define the pronunciation. If pronounced right I think it sounds pretty cool. You can add a little affectation too if you like. It's a "dragon name" and draconic languages are often portrayed as having different verbal sounds from human languages.
I'm sorry, but this could be german and would literally translate to 'disgust joe'
